Schedule an appointment with a school counselor for assistance as required prerequisites will need to be overridden if taken at another school.

Course Selection Information

  • AHS Coursebook or Online Course Catalog - read descriptions carefully before making selections
  • Course offering sheet - an "at-a-glance" list of all courses offered in 2026-27 providing general information including credit value, grade level availability, and prerequisite/fee status
  • Enter your course requests through your student PowerSchool account. Select a total of 8 credits. Four ALTERNATES must be selected and submitted as well.
  • Course selections may be edited after initial entry in PowerSchool until December 16.
  • If unable to submit requests due to an error, remove courses(s) causing the error and submit all other courses so complete re-entry is not necessary. Contact Student Services for assistance resolving error.
  • Current high school students with general questions may receive assistance from counselors by scheduling an appointment with their counselor. If you have failed a required course for graduation, make an appointment with your counselor to ensure you are rescheduled for next year.
  • Schedule changes will be limited due to the schedule change policy.

Class of 2027 and 2028 Information

  • Early College Credit and Start College Now applications are due March 1 for Fall 2026. Applications are available in Student Services.
  • Students interested in the Nursing Assistant course for the 2026-27 school year must complete and submit the Start College Now application by the March 1 deadline. Students are encouraged to complete Intro to Health Careers as well as request Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology. Seniors have priority.
  • Due to the college application process, carefully request courses since schedule changes may require approval and affect acceptance decisions.
  • Check your transcript to be sure requirements for graduation are met (Global Issues, Democratic Citizenship or AP Government, and Health for example). To access your transcript in your student PowerSchool account, click on Student Reports and then Unofficial Transcript.
  • Inorganic chemistry or instructor recommendation are prerequisites of AP Chemistry.
  • If planning for four year college, it is recommended students take Chemistry and Physics (4 Core and Math 3 are prerequisites).
  • If interested in healthcare, request both Inorganic and Organic Chemistry. Chemistry is a prerequisite for both.
  • School-to-Work allows seniors to earn up to 2 credits and be modified out for work 1 block per term during senior year. Students must have taken Real World Readiness in their junior year or be scheduled to take it in their senior year in order to be eligible to participate in this course.
